Minimally Invasive Dentistry
Video Information:
There is a new approach to dentistry made possible by advancements in technology and materials. This philosophy called “Minimally Invasive Dentistry” works to prevent the diseases that cause cavities and gum disease.
The first step in “Minimally Invasive Dentistry” is a conversation about your home care routine and your diet. IF you take medications that dry out your mouth making you more susecptible to decay there are mouth washes that will help.
The next step in prevention can start on the bacterial level. A quick swab of your teeth can reveal your risk for decay.
Loops, those specialized glasses dentists wear, show the fine detail of what’s going on in your mouth. And for a more precise look, microscopes not only give a high definition view, but allow you to see what your doctor sees.
If decay is starting you can use a special toothpaste or flouride therapy at home to try to reverse the damage making a filling unnecessary. And if a tooth needs to be restored, you may be able to have a restoration that delivers flouride to prevent further decay.
These are just a few of the methods used in “Minimally Invasive Dentistry”. Blodgett dental care will talk with you about what is right for you.
