What to Expect
Questions About Connecting With
Blodgett Dental Care
Everything you need to know before reaching out — from what to expect as a new patient to how to plan your trip from out of state, and how to connect with Dr. Blodgett for podcast or media inquiries.
A member of the Blodgett Dental Care team will review your submission and reach out within one business day. We'll discuss your health history, your concerns, and your goals — and help determine whether our practice is the right fit for where you are in your health journey.
There is no pressure and no obligation. Our goal is to give you enough information to make a confident, informed decision about your dental care. We don't rush the process — because the right care starts with the right conversation.
Yes — Blodgett Dental Care welcomes new patients from Portland, the surrounding Oregon and Washington area, and from across the United States and internationally through our dental tourism program. Due to demand, we encourage you to reach out early to discuss availability and timing.
As a biological and naturopathic dental practice, we are selective about ensuring every patient relationship is a good fit. The intake process is designed to help both of us determine whether Dr. Blodgett's approach aligns with your health values and goals.
Come prepared to have a real conversation about your full health picture — not just your teeth. It helps to bring a list of any current medications and supplements, prior dental records or X-rays if you have them, and notes on any chronic health conditions, sensitivities, or symptoms you've been experiencing that may be connected to your oral health.
Dr. Blodgett takes a whole-body approach to every evaluation. The more context you can provide about your health history, the more useful and specific the consultation will be. You can also review our new patient experience page to understand what to expect before you arrive.
Blodgett Dental Care is a fee-for-service practice, which means we are not contracted with insurance networks. However, we can provide documentation that allows many patients to submit claims to their insurance provider for potential out-of-network reimbursement, depending on your plan.
We believe that a practice built around your health — rather than insurance billing codes — delivers meaningfully better outcomes. Our team is happy to walk you through our financial options, including financing plans, before your first appointment so there are no surprises.
Out-of-state and international patients start exactly the same way — with this form. Once we receive your inquiry, our team will discuss your treatment goals, help estimate how many appointment days may be needed, and coordinate a treatment schedule that makes the most of your time in Portland.
Many patients combine their care with a few days exploring the city. We've built our dental tourism program specifically to make the logistics easy — including recommendations on where to stay, where to eat, and things to do in Portland while you're here. Patients travel from across the U.S. and from more than 50 countries to see Dr. Blodgett.
Yes — second opinion consultations are a significant part of Dr. Blodgett's practice. Many patients arrive after being told they need a root canal, multiple extractions, or extensive restorations by another dentist. Dr. Blodgett will evaluate your situation independently and give you his honest clinical assessment — including options that may not have been presented to you elsewhere.
This is consistent with the no dental dogma philosophy at the core of this practice. You deserve complete information. You make the call.
A standard dental exam checks your teeth and gums for immediate concerns. A consultation at Blodgett Dental Care does that — and significantly more. Dr. Blodgett evaluates the materials currently in your mouth, your bite mechanics and jaw alignment, any meridian connections to chronic health conditions, your gum health, and the relationship between your oral environment and your systemic wellbeing.
We use 3D cone beam scanning technology to identify issues invisible on standard X-rays — including jawbone cavitations, hidden infections, and structural concerns. You leave with a full picture, not just a cleaning and a bill.
Dr. Blodgett is an active participant in the biological dentistry and holistic health media space. He's available for podcast interviews, documentary appearances, expert commentary, keynote presentations, and written contributions on topics including: biological dentistry, mercury toxicity and the SMART protocol, cavitations, root canal risks, the mouth-body connection, dental tourism, and naturopathic dental medicine.
Use the media request section of this page to submit your inquiry, or visit our media request page directly. Include your podcast name, audience size, preferred format, and topic focus. We'll get back to you promptly.

Because the combination of credentials, philosophy, and clinical capability Dr. Blodgett offers is genuinely rare. He is one of a small number of dentists in the United States dual-certified in both biological and naturopathic dental medicine — with 25+ years of experience practicing exclusively in this space. He doesn't offer biological dentistry alongside conventional care. It is all he does, and all he has ever done.
Beyond the clinical expertise, patients consistently describe the experience at BDC as unlike anything they've encountered in conventional dentistry — a practice where your goals come first, your questions are welcomed, and your autonomy is respected at every step. That combination is what brings patients from 50+ states and countries to Portland. Read their stories here.
Still have a question we didn't cover? Call us at (971) 308-5203 or use the form above — we're happy to talk through your situation before you commit to anything.
