Biological Dentistry Considers More Than the Mouth!

My weekly posts generally focus on dental issues that lead to systemic illness. But it is important to note that anything foreign to which your body is exposed presents a potential risk to your health. This could include metals placed elsewhere in your body such as joint replacements, vascular clips, or rods and plates used in foot surgery.

One of the most commonly implanted substances is breast implants. I recently met a breast implant illness advocate, Candice Barley (@olisticolife), who shared with me some important information. Regardless of the filling material (silicone or saline), all breast implants are encased in a stiff outer silicone elastomer shell. The work of Dr. Pierre Blais shows that impurities exist on the surface of breast implants. The exterior shell is largely composed of oil, which can leach into the body slowly over time.

Silicone is also known to suppress immune function by suppressing natural killer cell activity. Natural killer cells are known to control the growth of tumor cells.

Here are a list of heavy metals known to be found in breast implant shells: Antimony, Arsenic, Barium, Cadmium, Chromium, Cobalt, Copper, Lead, Mercury, Molybdenum, Nickel, Titanium, Platinum, Selenium, Silver, Tin, Vanadium. Given that many of these metals are similar in dental materials, considering your total body burden of metal exposure seems wise when considering whether breast implants and/or dental work is appropriate for your bio-individual health.
Breast implant shells may also contain xylene and acetone (known VOCs). Both xylene and acetone are known neurotoxins. If you’re striving to remove sources of toxic exposure, make sure you consider ALL sources of foreign materials!

If your health is suffering and you can’t find the reason, we can help. To remove toxic dentistry and replace it with bio-compatible options, send us a message today through our website and discover how we can help you!
