Restorative Dentistry Portland, OR

Blodgett Dental Care Welcomes a New Age of Restorative Dentistry!

Blodgett Dental Care has never embraced the “drill, fill, and bill” approach to dentistry.

Our preference is to help people avoid dental disease in the first place! However, we do appreciate that for many people, some damage has already been done by the time they see us. If this describes your situation, then we have great news for you! We are committed to offering painless and predictable restorative care options to our patients.

We use only the safest, non-toxic tooth-colored materials that are BPA-free. Whether your restorative needs are small fillings, cosmetic enhancements with bonding or veneers or all-ceramic, non-metallic crowns, we have a solution that will fit your needs. By thoughtfully considering how your body’s systems interact, we provide restorative approaches that focus on improving your overall long-term health and wellbeing. Our investment in proven technologies will make your experience at Blodgett Dental Care, dare we say… awesome!

“Dr. Blodgett and the entire staff do everything they can to put you at ease and make sure you’re comfortable from the moment you walk in the door. Overall: incredible dental work and caring, friendly service.”

Modern, Minimally-Invasive Fillings

Nobody likes the sound of a dental drill!

We are one of the few dental practices in the Pacific Northwest to offer more comfortable options for restoring teeth:

  • Air Abrasion – Instead of a drill, a powerful stream of air and aluminum oxide particles painlessly removes decay.
  • WaterLase – By combining air, water, and laser energy, we can accurately and comfortably remove tooth decay.

These methods are more comfortable, because they don’t vibrate like a traditional drill.

  • Don’t like shots? Our techniques allow us to use minimal anesthetic. You won’t leave our office with half of your face feeling numb.
  • Worried about how a filling will look? We only use tooth-colored materials that match your other teeth.
  • We use safe materials. We offer BPA-free composite fillings and ceramic restorations. We are happy to work with you and your natural health care team to provide the materials best suited for your personal health needs.

If you have a cavity that needs to be filled, Blodgett Dental Care has many great choices for you.

Safe Mercury Filling Removal

Patient safety is one of our highest priorities. This includes minimizing your exposure to toxic substances, like the mercury in your old silver fillings. In June 2016, the IAOMT (International Academy of Oral Medicine and Toxicology), of which Dr. Kelly Blodgett is a member, launched its “SMART” program.

The aim of the SMART program (Safe Mercury Amalgam Removal Technique) is to minimize exposure of patients and dental teams to the toxic mercury being taken out of teeth.

Dr. Blodgett is Oregon’s first “SMART”-certified dentist.

Dental Implants

If you are missing a tooth, the best restorative solution is to replace that single tooth with a dental implant. It is a one-tooth solution to a one-tooth problem!

Our titanium implants can last for decades. In addition, we offer zirconia implants which are a great option for those who don’t want metal in their mouths.

Ask us which implant system best suits your needs for tooth replacement.

Root Canals

Without question, root canals are one of the “hottest” topics in holistic dentistry today. Dentists have been performing them for years and telling their patients that it’s a good health choice.

But here is the truth:

Root canals trap bacteria and/or dead nerve tissue inside the tooth and bone.

This dead tissue requires the body to mount an immune response so that the bone around the dead tooth doesn’t also die. If you have already had a root canal (or more than one), then it is best to understand that:

  1. This tooth may be a constant “tax” on your immune system.
  2. You may be healthier in the long run by removing the tooth and replacing it a dental implant.

At Blodgett Dental Care, we still offer root canal therapy for those patients who find that it is the best solution for their health goals. For those who prefer to go this route, we make it clear that you should not plan on that tooth being in your mouth forever. The best option, of course, is to engage in preventative care so that your teeth stay healthy in the first place.

Crowns

When a tooth has had a large filling placed in it – particularly if it is a mercury filling – it will eventually need a crown to protect it from further damage.

Using advanced CEREC 3D and Trios 3D CAD/CAM systems, most crowns in our office are completed in just one visit. No messy, gagging, goopy impressions and no temporaries!

Just a quick and comfortable process to fix your tooth.

Bridges

While implants have now replaced bridges as the standard of care in our office, sometimes a bridge may be the right solution for you.

Our CEREC Omnicam system allows us to offer single-visit bridges! Imagine: you can have your bridge made in just one single appointment!

Utilizing the latest in advanced CAD/CAM technology, your all-ceramic bridge will be made in one sitting and match your smile beautifully!
